RATHER SURPRISINGLY NO NEWSPAPERS DECIDED TO LEAD WITH “WHITNEY HOU-STONED”
The
tragic depart of the distinguished singer and acoustic magician Whitney Houston
left fans and vocal enemies in amazement and desolation. With self
contradictory statements, hypocrisy and remorse at their altitude, Jane Hubert
in an open letter brought reality to the eyes of Wendy Williams. Hubert, ‘you
crucified Whitney when she was alive so why would you be crying over her death
now’. Williams tore Houston apart on her radio show; her tears whether
prescribed or natural of self regret did not wash well with the Fresh Prince of
Bel Air star. This should be a lesson to journalists across the globe. Judging
by the media coverage on the stars drug problems newspapers they should have
lead with ‘HOU-STONED.’ Number of followers on twitter or zeros on the end of
your pay cheque, do the two eradicate natural human sentiment? An addiction is
an awful thing and not something to be toyed with no matter who the victim. The
media have to learn. The laws are there yet no consequences come about. The
same happened with the star, irreplaceable, the unique and much missed Michael
Jackson and yet the lesson still lives unlearned. There are many laws governing
privacy and defamation yet few seem to be followed probably because whether you
do or you do not the consequences are the same.
